Destruction & Sustainability Can Not Work Together

Trying to believe in the world as a great & wholesome place has become tougher and tougher to do these days.  I'm not sure if it is because I'm older, or if it my lack frolicking free time.
I have a much sunnier outlook on life than I have for most of the 3 decades I've been on this earth; I can not help but to feel the cycle of the ebb and flow of human exsistance is taking a turn for the worse.
For all that time we were looking into prosperity  and a world of grand new experiences, I now see the ill effect of humanity balancing precariously back to a time of sadness and decay.  Where literacy was something everyone had, it has become common place to no longer have the ability to read and still go through life without literacy.  People spend hours on Twitter reading 140 character blips, but so few will spend that same amount of time reading a great full length work by a great published author.  We work too little to pay our bills or so much we don't enjoy the benefits of being employed. We have sex partners and fuck buddies but we distance ourselves from having a lover because they might get them too close to us.  People would rather watch the super rich fight with each other through a lens and a copper wire than have their mind expanded by something intellectual.
I realize it is just a down turn and a lull after a long batch of wonderful creativity; advancements in the arts, sciences, and human dignity were everyday and revolutionary new break throughs came to us almost more rapidly than we could grow accustom to.  Sadly there were also advances in destruction, torment, harm and war.  We learned to turn "crime" into profit and make criminal prosecution lucrative.  We took the justice out of the justice system and made it about making money rather than protecting those who need the help of the the state.  Now the profiteers hold all the cards.
It took great international and domestic shake ups to create change back when the world saw a total upheaval in its standards and practices in terms of human exsistance.  Democracy and sanctions against torture came to be the ruling way of life.  It took the bravery of those who were sick of the way things were and knew change had to take place for there to be a better world.  They took it upon themselves to bring to light the wrongs and to fight the tyranny when they know the odds were stacked far against them. They took to any means necessary to gain respect as a human race and be known as back bone of the empire they were apart of, and decided to break free from.
But we have to watch out for needless and senseless loss of life in the changing paradigm. We must not see predation and stratification in society as natural and something that can continue at these gross disproportions. Unity and not conformity need to be our motto instead of letting them divide and conquer us.
When we live in a time when we spend more money killing the poor than it would cost to feed them we need to realign our values live in this world of plenty to its fullest.  We can not joke about eating the poor when the food supply runs out.  We need to see where innovation will be rewarded over mass profit margins.  To sustain those that are brought into this world.  Where they can have a standard of living this world can sustain for them and t future generations we produce.  A disposable society is just that. Expendable and non enduring.
We don't need a larger television when the lands that supply the food to our future generations shows signs of decay.  And the ability to create sustainably is only a scientific breakthrough away.
And just like we saw the French of the 1700's killing and filling the streets with blood (only to do it all over again when nothing of real substance changed).  A revolution can not be centered in violence, it must be centered in change and progress for the whole of humanity and not a focus on the violent over throw of a political power that only has power when we give it control.   We need to have our eyes opened to that fact that war feeds those who are infinitely rich and steals the lives, minds, & souls of those who do the fighting while keeping those at home waving flags and rooting on the senselessness killing of the impoverished of the 3rd world for profit.  No one is a hero in war times.  Violence only begets more violence and this is something we must get away from to continue the move forward.  Destruction of the earth and our race through violence will not sustain us anymore.

We Must Look to Freedom and Peace.

We have given up more freedoms in the name of being safer than anything some angry men in the Middle-East can take from us.  We have now allowed congress to pass a law that allows American Citizens to be jailed indefinitely if they are accused of "terrorist actions" with out formal charges or a trail.
Oppression is be the taxation, restrictions, and jailing we will have as a direct cause of an all out invasion of 2 countries, and the fear of counter attacks as a result.  One does not hit a hornet's nest if you are afraid of being stung or attacked in the defense of the hive.
How are we free when every action is governed by rules, regulations, and laws?  Even having food in your house to feed your family for more than 7 days makes one suspect....  (Forget preparations for in-climate weather or a hatred for shopping often. )
One of the countries we invaded had the culprit, but we did not capture Bin Laden in nearly 10 years!  I know I would be angered by a country saying they are assisting to end violence but only precluding it for a longer period of time.  The other country we invaded had nothing to do with the 9-11 attacks while the leader of that country just happened to be a guy who eluded the 1st Bush president's attacks during the Gulf War. Why are tax payers having to suffer for presidential arrogance?

We will be held accountable for all the destruction we have cause. And the loss of very real freedoms will be the result. We will no longer be worried about the potential losses. We will simply see it 1st hand and suffer  very real consequences if we do not look to see where we can stop the real threats to out freedoms and liberties...

$ For War, and Your Death for FREE. Or Do I Have That Backwards?

The same people who wanted to invade two countries in the Middle East are the same that want to be exempt from paying for it!
I know it has been a deep seeded tradition in America to not pay for the war that was fought.  Heck, it was the foundation for creating a new country out from under the rule of the Britain that protected the Americans from the French and Native Americans in the 1700's when Britain needed the funds to recoup.   But it does not work this way any more.  Bills must be paid and people held responsible.
Is it too much to ask for you to back your commitment to kill innocent women and children with money?  I don't think so.  You received tax cuts and still wanted a war.  Well, you got both.  Now it is time to pay back the government that allowed you to not pay for its ability to sustain itself through fiance, and the war you were too naive to know  was not engaged to protect you. (And would take far longer to fight than you were told.)

War is one of the most expensive acts a country can take.  The soldiers must be trained, paid, fed, armed, and clothed.  Equipment needs to be paid for and often gets destroyed and replaced at a high amount of tax payer cost.  Plus the cost of heightened security for those who are now at higher risks of danger is paid by your tax dollars.
One can not have the most expensive of everything and not expect to have to pay for it.  You can't have a nice house and expect to never pay the mortgage on it.  If you want to kill it needs to be expensive.

Shouldn't I be the most upset of all?  I was fully against to war or any other form of invasion when our country needs a great deal of work with out this distraction.  But I am still having to pay for your decision.  But I'm not mad.  I saw that it was going to come to pass, and I have been bracing myself for the impact.  Why didn't you??

The "War on Terror"...

The "War on Terror" in Iraq seems to be fought like very bad police work.  It is as if a horrible crime house was in a neighborhood, (Lets say they killed several people to cover up a drug manufacturing ring; kinda fits doesn't it?)  Well, instead of going directly to the house of issue, they invade every house in the neighborhood, take prisoners, torture them for information, kill the ones they can not capture or get information from, all the while really knowing that the persons they want were on vacation and can never be found through the neighborhood!
The families of those made into victims will be furious and take actions.  They will have good reason; and the fact that the Qu'ran directly tells its followers to take armed actions against those attacking those who can not defend themselves, only adds fuel to a fire that is already burning bright as the sun!  Will we learn before we are made to suffer for real crimes against woman, children, and innocents?  I don't want my family and those close to me harmed because of of a war of vengeance that I never supported.

War as Population Control.

War as population control has been around since the beginnings of over-population in humanity. It did not start out as the killing of the lower classes by command of the higher classes. It had a much more “innocent” start.

At first, one group would be in need of what another group had in its possession. Sometimes the needing side would ask for assistance. But, if they were in-able due to language barriers or refusals in communication this would result in stealing. If they were caught, or this did not bring in a sufficient amount of the needed products, violence would break out.

The attacking side would benefit most from conquer. But even if they were unsuccessful, they gain by being fewer in numbers. This caused a lessened burden on resources because fewer people were consuming them. Even when a side lost, it still gained. This was the population control where predation and succumbing to disease did not thin out numbers efficiently enough.

Some have said that war is the “failsafe” genetically implanted into humanity to conquer over-population. This may not be too far off when one is to look to nature. Spiders, while in the egg sac, with eat their brothers and sisters if the outside environment is inclimate for them to break out. Primates fight and kill each other in groups and bands if they do not have the recourses to survive. (Much the same way unarmed humans do.) Frogs and alligators will eat their own kind if they are the only other life in their dwelling. So really, killing in a war like fashion seems to be pretty natural, especially when we take in primates into the equation.

But like anything that humanity has had, power takes over and abuse takes hold of even the most natural of tendencies. Those with power learned that they could get people to fight and die for a cause as long as the story was good enough and believable enough to convince the people to take arms and fight. (In some cases an outright forcing of military service was issued.)

I believe Justin Sane wrote the best analysis in “Anatomy of Your Enemy”. Here he stated:

Ten easy steps to create an enemy and start a war
Listen closely because we will all see this weapon used in our lives
It can be used on a society of the most ignorant
To the most highly educated, we need to see these tactics as a weapon
Against humanity and not as truth

This is how to create an enemy
This is how to start a war
This is how to create an enemy

First step
Create the enemy
Sometimes this will be done for you

Second step
Be sure the enemy you have chosen is nothing like you
Find obvious differences like race, language, religion
Dietary habits, fashion

Emphasize that their soldiers are not doing a job
They are heartless murderers who enjoy killing

Third step
Once these differences are established
Continue to reinforce them with all disseminated information

Fourth step
Have the media broadcast only the ruling party's information
This can be done through state run media

Remember, in times of conflict
All for-profit media repeats the ruling party's information
Therefore all for-profit media (is) state-run

Fifth step
Show this enemy in actions that seem strange, militant or different
Always portray the enemy as non-human, evil, a killing machine

This is how to create an enemy
This is how to start a war
This is how to create an enemy

Sixth step
Eliminate opposition to the ruling party
Create an "Us versus them" mentality
Leave no room for opinions in between

One that does not support all actions of the ruling party
Should be considered a traitor

Seventh step
Use nationalistic and or religious symbols
And rhetoric to define all actions

This can be achieved by slogans such as
"Freedom loving people versus those who hate freedom"
This can also be achieved by the use of flags

Eighth step
Align all actions with the dominant deity
It is very effective to use terms like
"It is God's will" or "God bless our nation"

Ninth step
Design propaganda to show that your soldiers have feelings
Hopes, families and loved ones
Make it clear that your soldiers are doing a duty
They do not want or like to kill

Tenth step
Create an atmosphere of fear and instability
Then offer the ruling party as the only solution
To comfort the public's fears
Remembering the fear of the unknown is always the strongest fear

This is how to create an enemy
This is how to start a war
This is how to create an enemy

We are not countries, we are not nations
(Enemy)
We are not religions, we are not Gods
We are not weapons, we are not ammunition
(Enemy)
We are not killers, we will not be tools

Motherfuckers
I will not die, I will not kill
I will not be your slave
I will not fight your battle

I will not die on your battlefield
I will not fight for your wealth
I am not a fighter
I am a human being

( http://popup.lala.com/popup/2017894142681546894 To hear this song.)

Here we see just what has been done, throughout time, to start a war. But what is gained in our modern war practices? The ruling class decreases the numbers of the less privileged in their country so less has to be fought for and split. Those on top will be able to keep a greater amount to themselves because they will be some of the few who are left. They will see that what they feel is theirs will not be taken away by those that they feel are undeserving. (The commodities and privileges that only the “high society” should get to have.) Those who are lower in social status will be killed or at least be removed from competition. This helps to remove some very legitimate fears that higher classes can have during economic struggles.

These are: higher taxes for those who have much, being robbed by those in need, or seeing both of these scenarios escalate together to culminate into civil war where they will have to fight on a side, or be the opposing side. There they would lose much, even if they win. (It is just the opposite of when primitive man fought a war. So they need to keep this from happening.)

To deflect this occurrence these higher classes divert the anger from themselves onto another target. Then, they become the people who make money off of wars and are not a side that could/will lose as greatly as if they had allowed war to break against them in their home land. They often own the companies who make the materials for war. So, they win on a triple level. Not only do they get to get rid any competition from underneath, they also make money off the spoils, and they are protected by the government and the people because they are now seen as helpers for the “good cause” and deflected from being seen as the enemy or hoarders of strongly desired goods and privileges that the lower classes are not allowed to have.

Simone de Beauvoir & me.

Of late I have been reading the works of Simone de Beauvoir and can not help but almost feel as if I am in love. To give you a little bit of her back ground, if you are unfamiliar with her, she was the woman that spent much of her life being Jean-Paul Sartre's main love. Each of them had many lovers other than each other but found that they spent most of their time and works with each other. They would have been married but Sartre belived that that was much too bourgeois and they never did.

I have been reading one volume of her autobiography entitled Force of Circumstance II. In it she speaks out against the country around her. They are engaged in a war with Algeria and the French army is torturing, raping, and slaughtering people of a poor and underindustrialized nation. She speaks out very venhemently against these atrocities and is found to be Un-French by her fellow countrymen. She goes as far as to denounce her home counrty and leaves it all the while doing her journalism for her and Sartre's paper fueled with articles about the horrors taking place in the hands of the French military.

I could not help feeling just what she is writing about in connection with the current war in Iraq. Our soldiers are doing just what we were told we would be liberating the Iraqi people from. We are only liberating them from their lives; if they are lucky. And one should know that I feel that life in the only thing that should never be sacrificed. It only comes about one time and living it is everything that you ever do.

Simone also speaks of an account she had with her brother-in-law who was trying the rationalize what was being done durring this war. He tried to say that the torture was only in issolated instances and that the military was only acting in ways that it needs to to combat a savage land and equally savage people. I heard these same things told to me durring my political ravings of administrations past and wars current. When she descibes what she was feeling physically durring, and right after, those conversations with her brother-in-law I could not help but know in absolute detail exactly what she was feeling.

I would suggest her writings to any one with any sort of leftist inclinations, even a slight acknowlegment of woman's equal rights, enjoys great women writers, or is one who takes interest in existentialistc philosophy and its application to real life situations. She is an amazing writer and to know that she wrote these works long before it was en vouge to do so by a woman makes these writings that much more powerful and impressive.
